Multichoice Fined ₦766m by FG Over Data Privacy Violations
The Federal Government has slammed a ₦766.2 million fine on Multichoice Nigeria for allegedly violating data privacy laws, including improper handling and cross-border transfer of customers' personal information. The Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) announced the penalty in a statement on Sunday, citing findings from an investigation launched in Q2 2024. The probe was prompted by reports of intrusive data practices and possible violations of the Nigeria Data Protection Act.
