Lagos-based TryTaped Recordings Limited is positioning itself as one of the emerging independent studios helping to shape Nigeria’s Afrobeats industry, particularly through its work with rising talents such as Dami Laylo.
As Afrobeats continues to expand globally, independent production companies are playing a growing role in developing new artists outside traditional record-label structures. TryTaped has contributed to several emerging projects while building a studio-focused ecosystem that supports long-term artistic growth.
Recent releases linked to the company include Kigoma by Dami Laylo and Lawless as well as Yana by Urktave. These projects reflect a growing trend of studio-driven collaborations that are reshaping the music production landscape in Nigeria.
Creative direction at the company is led by Urktave (born Chizi Owhondah Natha-Amadi), whose engineering style focuses on layered instrumentation, sonic clarity, and immersive listening experiences that align with modern streaming standards.
The company is headed by Onyiyechi Gift Amadi, also known professionally as AfroYana, whose leadership emphasizes discipline, artist development, and long-term sustainability rather than short-term fame.
TryTaped has now announced Dami Laylo’s new single Lay Lo, scheduled for global release on April 10, 2026. The track blends melodic Afrobeats with Afropop and Afro-fusion influences, aiming to appeal to both Nigerian and international listeners.
Dami Laylo (born Damilola Olamilekan Osho) represents a new generation of artists pushing Afrobeats’ global expansion through culturally rooted yet commercially flexible music. Production for the single was handled by Urktave, further highlighting the studio’s commitment to refined sound engineering and high-quality production.
The release will also coincide with the launch of the company’s upgraded website as part of its strategy to strengthen its international digital presence and promote African music globally. 🎧
