Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah has been called up to the England national team to replace Marc Guehi, who has been ruled out with a foot injury.

According to BBC Sport on Tuesday, the 26-year-old is expected to join the Three Lions camp ahead of England’s final World Cup qualifiers against Albania and Serbia, although the official announcement is yet to be made.

England have already secured qualification for next summer’s World Cup, giving manager Thomas Tuchel a chance to assess fringe players.

Tuchel’s Influence on Chalobah’s Career

Chalobah made his England debut against Senegal after earning his first call-up under Tuchel in May. The manager previously described him as “unlucky” to miss out on the September and October international windows.

Tuchel, who also handed Chalobah his Chelsea debut in 2021, has been instrumental in the defender’s development.

Strong Season for Chalobah

The versatile centre-back has featured in all but four of Chelsea’s matches this season, helping the Blues climb to third in the Premier League, reach the Carabao Cup quarter-finals, and progress in the Champions League league phase.

Injury Woes for Guehi and Others

Guehi sustained his foot injury during Crystal Palace’s Conference League win over AZ Alkmaar last week.

Meanwhile, Newcastle’s Anthony Gordon (hip) and Nick Pope (concussion) are also expected to withdraw from the England squad, potentially prompting further changes.
