Nigerian celebrity chef Hilda Baci has officially received her second Guinness World Record title, this time for cooking the world’s largest pot of jollof rice.
The recognition follows her record-breaking cookout in Lagos back in September, where she and her team prepared 8,780 kilograms (19,356 pounds) of jollof rice — a feat that wowed food lovers across the country.
The new plaque makes Hilda the first Nigerian chef to hold two Guinness World Records, after previously setting the record for the longest cooking marathon in May 2023, which lasted 93 hours and 11 minutes.
Reacting to the confirmation, Hilda described the achievement as a “moment of fulfilment and gratitude,” saying both records represent her journey of faith, perseverance, and purpose.
“These records remind me that anything is possible when determination meets passion,” she said.
She also expressed appreciation to Gino, the brand that partnered with her for the Lagos cookout, for believing in her vision and helping to showcase Nigeria’s creativity through food.
The announcement sparked widespread celebration across social media, with fans and fellow Nigerians congratulating Hilda for bringing pride to the country once again.
Many described her feat as not just a personal win but a victory for Nigeria’s food culture, proving that jollof rice — one of West Africa’s most iconic dishes — can be a global spotlight for creativity and unity.
Sharing her joy online, Hilda quoted Isaiah 61:7, saying she had received a “double portion” of joy in place of shame.
With two Guinness World Records to her name, Hilda Baci continues to cement her place as one of Africa’s most influential culinary figures, inspiring a new wave of young chefs and entrepreneurs across the continent.
