Former Kaduna Central Senator, Shehu Sani, has stirred conversations online after advising women against checking their husbands’ phones without permission.
In a post shared on his official X (formerly Twitter) handle, the outspoken lawmaker warned that snooping through a partner’s phone can lead to emotional turmoil and avoidable conflict in relationships.
Sani explained that not every truth uncovered in life is worth knowing, especially in relationships built on trust and mutual respect.
According to him, many heartbreaks and domestic disputes start when one partner invades the other’s privacy in search of “proof.”
He cautioned that such actions often stem from insecurity or external influence, noting that curiosity can sometimes destroy peace rather than protect it.
“If you cannot handle some truths, don’t go searching for them in this imperfect and temporary life,” Sani wrote.
“Don’t search the phone of your husband without his consent. When the Devil directs you to your husband’s phone, he wants to open your eyes and shut down your heart. Avoidable tragedies should be avoided!”
The former senator urged couples to prioritize communication and understanding over suspicion.
He emphasized that healthy relationships thrive on transparency and mutual respect, not surveillance or constant checking.
“Trust,” he suggested, “is the strongest form of love — not control.”
Sani’s message has since sparked mixed reactions on social media, with some users applauding his wisdom while others argue that transparency should extend to phone access in marriage.
