Nigerian streamer and content creator, Peller, has sparked online reactions after claiming that people in Ivory Coast are “uneducated” because they do not understand or speak English.

The TikTok personality made the comment while sharing updates about his upcoming trip to the French-speaking West African nation.

Peller Plans Trip to Ivory Coast

In a video posted on his social media page, Peller explained that he plans to purchase translator earpods ahead of his visit since he does not understand French, the country’s official language.

“When I go to Ivory Coast, I have to buy that earpod where if you are talking to me, it will be translating it to English,” he said.
“Because Ivory Coast, all of them, they don’t hear English. Everybody in Ivory Coast, they are like me.”

Mocks Critics of His English

Peller went on to draw a comparison between himself and Ivorians, saying that just as people mock him in Nigeria for not speaking English fluently, Ivorians also don’t understand the language.

“In Nigeria, they abuse me, say I don’t hear English. But everybody living in Africa, they are like me. Everybody will call me uneducated. Imagine everybody from Africa—see, uneducated—we are the same. Africa is the same now,” he added.

Mixed Reactions Online

His remarks quickly circulated online, sparking mixed reactions among social media users.
While some fans found his comments humorous, others criticized him for equating language barriers with a lack of education, pointing out that Ivory Coast’s official language is French and that linguistic differences do not reflect intelligence or literacy levels.

Peller, who has built a following with his humorous and often controversial social media content, has yet to respond to the backlash surrounding his statement.
