Controversial social commentator and former presidential aide, Reno Omokri, has stirred heated conversations online after asserting that the best gift a woman can offer her husband is her virginity.

Omokri Speaks on the Value of Virginity

Sharing his views on social media, Omokri emphasized that virginity holds deep spiritual, emotional, and physical significance in marriage, describing it as a foundation for a strong and lasting relationship.

According to him, a woman who enters marriage with her virginity “adds value” to her partner in multiple ways and plays a unique role in strengthening the marital bond.

“As long as a woman brings virginity to the table, she does not have to bring anything else physically to that relationship to make it stable,” he said.

“The best gift your wife can give you is her virginity. Once she enters the marriage with that, it adds value to you physically, spiritually, and emotionally. The connection between you and her will be almost mystical.”

Warning Against Peer Pressure

Omokri also advised young women to resist peer pressure and ridicule surrounding virginity, urging them to remain firm in their values regardless of societal trends.

He likened mockery over chastity to the Yoruba term “Erin Ika”—a kind of laughter without joy—adding that those who maintain their principles have a kind of dignity that cannot be replicated.

“Your friends may laugh at you, but that laughter is without mirth. It is what the Lukumi Yoruba call Erin Ika.
You can be like them in one minute, but they can never be like you in one million light-years!”

Mixed Reactions Online

Omokri’s remarks have sparked a wave of mixed reactions across social media.
While some supporters agreed with his moral stance, praising him for promoting virtue and discipline, others criticized his statement as outdated and one-sided, arguing that mutual respect, communication, and shared responsibility are more essential to a healthy marriage.
