Barely days after Hilda Baci’s Guinness World Record for the largest pot of jollof rice was officially confirmed, another Nigerian chef is gearing up for her own cooking feat.
Rita Nnagbogu Ifeyinwa has announced plans to set a new Guinness World Record with the largest pot of Ukodo (yam pepper soup) and beans.
The attempt is scheduled for September 17, 2025, in Asaba, Delta State, according to a Facebook post by Ossai Ovie Success, who revealed that over ₦20 million has already been pledged to support the project.
“I just reached out to the CEO of Korrect Logistics, Amb. Abolo Henshell, and the Onishe of Ubulu-Uku Kingdom, High Chief Ibori Ubulu. They will be giving her ₦20m to start preparations. I will also be mobilizing more support for her,” Ossai wrote.
Ifeyinwa’s announcement comes on the heels of Baci’s record-breaking jollof rice cookout, which held on September 12, 2025, at Eko Hotels and Suites in Lagos, attracting celebrities including Funke Akindele.
But the new record bid has sparked mixed reactions online, with some Nigerians accusing challengers of trying to “snatch the spotlight” too soon.
One social media user, Sasu Neorse, fumed:
“Jealousy. Make una allow my girl enjoy her title in peace. God abeg! The day you wan attempt am, better rain go fall scatter everything.”
Another, Eunice, wrote:
“Why won’t people let Hilda enjoy her shine? Must it always be cooking? Nigerians and copy-copy na 5 & 6.”
Still, others welcomed the idea with humor and support. Temisan commented:
“Location please, make I buy bread come. Congratulations in advance ooooh, we go mount for her.”
And Joy added:
“Guinness World Record no go rest for Nigerians again.”
