Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo, has addressed the controversy surrounding viral footage of a female passenger, Comfort Emmanson, involved in a mid-flight altercation.

Emmanson has been trending online after a video surfaced showing her physically confronting an airline staff member and security personnel during an Ibom Air flight.

In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), Keyamo criticised the release of the footage, which captured moments of indecent exposure during the incident, and ordered that those responsible for leaking it be identified and sanctioned.

The minister disclosed that the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has imposed an indefinite flying ban on Emmanson. She was also charged to court and subsequently remanded at Kirikiri Prison after failing to provide the required sureties.

“The Police promptly arraigned her this morning at the Ikeja Magistrates’ Court for criminal offences and remanded her at Kirikiri Prisons as she could not provide adequate sureties in court,” Keyamo stated.
