After months of intense competition against some of Nigeria’s best performers and vocalists in the ninth season of Nigerian Idol, Chima Udoye has emerged as the winner of this year’s edition, crowned at the grand finale on Sunday, July 14, 2024.

The finale began with a powerful performance by the top 10 contestants, who took to the stage to deliver John Legend’s “Glory.” The evening’s lineup featured special performances from Progress, the winner of Nigerian Idol Season 7, and Victory Gbakara, the Season 8 champion, who performed an original piece written before his season’s finale. The night intensified with guest performances by Chike, Simi, and the top three finalists, culminating in Chima’s crowning moment.

Chima has consistently wowed audiences and judges 9ice, Omawumi, and Ric Hassani with his onstage charisma and vocal dexterity. Omawumi even remarked that Chima was competing with himself, highlighting his exceptional talent and potential beyond the competition’s confines.

Specializing in jazz and soul music, Chima entered the show with the ambition to showcase his vocal prowess and inspire others. Twelve weeks later, his dream has come true as he stands victorious.

Chima was awarded a grand prize of ₦30 million, a brand new SUV, a DStv Explora with a one-year premium subscription, a music deal, and a music video production.
