Judge grants Lil Nas X entry into mental health diversion programme

Lil Nas X has been granted access to a mental health diversion programme by a California court following his arrest last August.

The rapper was taken into custody after an incident in Los Angeles, where he was accused of assaulting police officers while wandering the streets in a distressed state.

During a recent hearing, the judge ruled that the charges against him could be dismissed if he successfully completes the programme and stays out of legal trouble for the next two years.

Reacting to the decision, Lil Nas X expressed relief, noting that the outcome could have been far worse.

“I’m thankful. Just very thankful. It could have been much worse,” he said.

Following the incident, the artist was diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder, a condition that affects mood, energy levels, and behaviour.

The diversion programme is expected to focus on treatment and rehabilitation, offering him a structured path toward recovery while allowing him to avoid a criminal record if all conditions are met.
