Dremo has opened up about feeling overlooked in Nigeria’s music industry, despite his confidence in his lyrical ability and studio skills.
Speaking on the Echo Room podcast, the rapper—real name Aboriomoh Femi Raymond—said many people don’t fully recognise what he brings to the table. He, however, added that he has embraced the “underdog” mindset, even though he believes his talent deserves more attention.
Dremo linked the issue partly to the Nigerian industry’s strong preference for Afrobeats and pop, which often sidelines rap music and its artists.
He also reflected on his time under Davido Music Worldwide, noting that the label’s heavy focus on its founder, Davido, made it harder for other artists to gain visibility and grow as expected.
His comments add to ongoing conversations about how Nigerian rappers struggle for mainstream recognition compared to their Afrobeats counterparts.
