Former Juventus captain Alessandro Del Piero has criticised Inter Milan’s performance following their UEFA Champions League elimination by Norwegian side Bodø/Glimt, describing the Italian giants as “average” on a decisive night.
Speaking on Sky Sport, Del Piero praised Bodø/Glimt’s intensity, teamwork, and passion but expressed disappointment with Inter’s passive approach.
According to him, high-stakes matches demand more than routine performances, and Inter failed to rise to the occasion.
He noted that while average displays may suffice in other fixtures, the lack of urgency proved costly in a match of such magnitude.
Del Piero also pointed to the electrifying stadium atmosphere, stressing that Inter did not capitalise on the energy of the crowd.
He suggested the team possessed the quality to progress but lacked the extra drive needed to secure qualification.
Turning his attention to Juventus, Del Piero warned that the Turin club face an even more daunting task in their tie against Galatasaray.
Trailing 5–2 on aggregate, Juventus must produce a spirited response and a significantly improved performance to overturn the deficit. Del Piero described the challenge as “titanic,” noting the team’s recent struggles and defensive vulnerabilities.
Despite the odds, he expressed hope that Juventus can rediscover form and restore pride with a strong showing in the second leg.
