Founder of BUA Group, Abdul Samad Rabiu, has reaffirmed his support for the Super Eagles, confirming that he will fulfill his promised $500,000 reward despite Nigeria’s semi-final loss to Morocco at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

Rabiu had earlier announced the incentive following Nigeria’s quarter-final victory over Algeria, stating that the bonus would be paid if the team won their next match. Although the Eagles narrowly missed out on a place in the final, the business mogul said their effort deserved to be honoured.

In a post shared on Instagram, Rabiu praised the players for their passion, resilience, and unity throughout the tournament.

“You fought with your hearts, gave your all, and showed true courage and determination on the pitch. Though it wasn’t meant to be this time, you have made every Nigerian proud,” he wrote.

He acknowledged that football does not always reward effort with victory but stressed that the character and teamwork displayed by the squad were more important than the final result.

As a mark of appreciation for their journey and commitment, Rabiu confirmed that the $500,000 pledge would still be paid, describing it as recognition of the joy, pride, and inspiration the team gave Nigerians.

“Keep your heads high, Super Eagles. The experience, lessons, and spirit from this tournament will lead to greater success in the future. Nigeria believes in you,” he added.

Despite falling short at the semi-final stage, the Super Eagles’ AFCON 2025 campaign has continued to earn praise, with many Nigerians applauding the team’s fighting spirit and performance.
