With Wizkid already sweeping multiple year-end streaming accolades, his longtime collaborator Tunez has now added another major milestone to the Starboy camp’s dominance.
Fresh Spotify data released earlier this week confirmed that DJ Tunez is the No. 1 most-streamed DJ in Nigeria for 2025 — a feat that further solidifies the Starboy brand as a powerhouse within African music. The achievement reflects both his consistency and the strength of the creative ecosystem surrounding Wizkid.
The numbers were published by Africa Facts Zone on X, unveiling Spotify’s monthly listener rankings for DJs across the continent.
As expected, South Africa’s Amapiano giants took command of the top spots, proving once again how influential their sound has become globally.

DJ Maphorisa – 5.3M

DJ Tunez – 3.55M

Despite South Africa’s continued dominance in global dance culture, Tunez’s entry as the only Nigerian DJ in the top 10 sparked massive excitement at home. His 3.55M listeners place him second in Africa overall a huge win for Afrobeats.
The DJ himself reacted with a simple but iconic statement: a quote-tweet featuring Michael Jordan’s legendary “I’m Back” GIF, sending fans into a frenzy.
The announcement immediately stirred online debates typical of Nigerian music circles. While his supporters hailed the achievement, others reignited arguments about who qualifies as a “DJ” in today’s music industry where producers, selectors, and curators all blend roles.
Still, the overwhelming tone was celebratory, with Starboy FC loudly claiming the victory.
Seun Omogaji better known as DJ Tunez has been a crucial part of Afrobeats’ global expansion for nearly a decade.
Since joining Wizkid’s Starboy Worldwide in 2016, he has been the heartbeat behind countless sold-out shows from Lagos to London.
His discography is a map of genre-shaping moments:
“Gbese” (Wizkid) a 2018 summer smash
“Pami” (Wizkid, Adekunle Gold, Omah Lay) a global fan favourite
Numerous influential singles that have defined club culture worldwide
But 2025 was arguably his strongest year yet.
His collaborative EP with Wizkid and DJ Maphorisa, South Gidi, blended Afrobeats with Amapiano in a seamless, culture-shifting way.
The project’s lead single, “Money Constant” featuring Mavo, dominated:
Over a month at No. 1 on Apple Music Nigeria
Peaked at No. 8 on the Global Shazam Chart
Became a staple in clubs, events, and playlists everywhere
He followed up with:
“One Condition” (Wizkid & Fola) an instant favourite
“Easy With Me” (Wizkid & ODUMODUBLVCK) debuted at No. 3 on Apple Music Nigeria
These wins show a DJ who isn’t just riding a wave he’s actively shaping the scene and pushing Afrobeats into new spaces.
