The family of late singer Ilerioluwa “Mohbad” Aloba has once again called for a transparent and independent investigation into his death — while also instructing his widow, Wunmi, to stop using the Aloba surname until a court-ordered DNA test confirms the paternity of her son, Liam.

In a statement jointly signed by family head Omolayo Aloba and Mohbad’s father, Joseph Aloba, the family said it remains “resolute in its demand for a fair, independent, and comprehensive investigation” into the mysterious circumstances surrounding the singer’s death.

Legal Representation and Estate Administration

The family named Oladayo Ogungbe, Esq. as its official legal representative for all matters concerning Mohbad’s estate and the pending DNA test, while Dr. Wahab Shittu (SAN) will continue to represent them before investigative authorities.

Three administrators — Ajewole Aloba, Rasaq Famuyiwa, and Alonge Aloba — were appointed to oversee Mohbad’s assets. One additional slot has been reserved for Wunmi, should the DNA test confirm that Liam is indeed Mohbad’s biological child.

Directive to Wunmi

The family’s statement also instructed Wunmi to “cease using the surname Aloba in both public and private records until lawful confirmation of paternity is obtained.” They further noted that there was no statutory or traditional marriage between Mohbad and Wunmi Adebanjo, emphasizing that her continued use of the name is inappropriate pending legal verification.

Awaiting Justice

The family reiterated that if the DNA results confirm Liam’s paternity, both Wunmi and the child will be fully recognized and integrated into the estate’s administrative process.

Mohbad passed away on September 12, 2023, at the age of 27. Over a year later, the late singer is yet to be laid to rest, as the family continues to demand justice and clear answers regarding the circumstances of his tragic death.
