Lagos Set for 2025 Women Run as Preparations Intensify

Preparations are in full swing for the 2025 Lagos Women Run, with the Lagos State Government ramping up efforts ahead of the annual 10km race scheduled for November 8.

Meetings between the Lagos State Sports Commission and organizing committees have been ongoing to ensure this year’s edition is more exciting and better organized than previous ones.

The Director General of the Lagos State Sports Commission, Lekan Fatodu, has instructed all working teams to speed up their preparations, promising that the 2025 race will exceed the success of last year’s event. Fatodu, who also played a vital role in the 2024 edition, continues to offer his full support to the organizing committee.

The Lagos Women Run, initiated by the Gym Assured Marathon and Road Race Organisation in partnership with the Lagos State Government, brings together women professionals in sports administration and advocacy for women’s empowerment.

Since its debut in 2016, the event has continued to gain traction across Nigeria, with plans underway to expand it to other states.

Project Coordinator Tayo Popoola confirmed that preparations are at an advanced stage, adding that this year’s edition will feature activities beyond the race itself.

“The Lagos Women Run is not just about running. We have lined up several educational and empowerment programs for women,” Popoola said. “The support from the Lagos State Sports Commission, led by Mr. Fatodu, has been outstanding, and registration is already ongoing.”

Participants in the 2025 edition will receive running kits, bibs, medals, certificates, goody bags, and sponsors’ products as part of their race package.
