Nigerian singer Seyi Shay has opened up about her relationship with the father of her daughter, explaining why they have chosen not to get married despite maintaining a strong and loving bond.
In an interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, the award-winning artiste described her decision as both personal and practical, calling the situation “technical.”
According to Seyi Shay, while she and her child’s father share deep mutual respect and a close friendship, marriage isn’t currently part of their plan. She emphasised that their focus remains on building a peaceful and supportive environment for their daughter.
Speaking about their dynamic, Seyi Shay described their relationship as a healthy co-parenting partnership grounded in understanding and communication.
“He’s great, he’s cool, he’s around. He’s Nigerian, currently in the UK, and works in the music industry on the corporate side,” she shared.
She added that they both prioritise their child’s well-being above all else and have found balance through mutual respect and teamwork.
Since welcoming her daughter in 2022, the Right Now crooner said motherhood has profoundly transformed her outlook on life and relationships.
She noted that becoming a mother has made her more intentional about her choices, inspiring her to focus on love, growth, and purpose rather than conforming to societal expectations.
Seyi Shay, who is also known for hits like Yolo Yolo and Murda, concluded that her journey as a mother and artist continues to be one of learning, self-discovery, and empowerment.
