Manchester City midfielder, Rodri, has withdrawn from the Spanish national team camp after picking up a muscle injury during the weekend’s game.
Although the injury is said to be minor, the 28-year-old opted out of international duty as a precautionary measure to avoid aggravating the problem.
Football journalist Fabrizio Romano confirmed the development on Monday, quoting the player as saying:
“I’m feeling better, but there’s no need to take any risks with the national team. I hope to be available in two weeks for the Everton game.”
Rodri’s statement indicates optimism within the Manchester City camp that he could return in time for their Premier League clash against Everton after the international break.
His absence, however, leaves Spain manager Luis de la Fuente with a midfield gap to fill ahead of their upcoming fixtures. The coach is expected to test alternative options during this window.
Meanwhile, Manchester City will continue to closely monitor Rodri’s recovery, as his influence remains crucial in their ongoing Premier League title defence and Champions League campaign.
