Davido Almost Quit Music Before Hit Song With Omah Lay

Afrobeats star Davido has opened up about a turning point in his career, revealing he was on the verge of stepping away from music before releasing his chart-topping track “With You” featuring Omah Lay.

In a recent interview making rounds on social media, the singer confessed that the success of the song took him by surprise and reignited his passion for music. The track, which appears on his latest album 5ive, has gone on to become one of the standout hits of 2025.

“We thank God. 13 or 14 years after, for me to have this kind of song… Some people get it early, some get it late. I was even thinking of quitting, then God gave me this song. It really added more life to everything,” Davido shared.

Despite a career spanning more than a decade, Davido admitted he was considering taking a bow from the industry before this collaboration breathed new life into his journey.

“With You” Breaks Records

The song is now the most-streamed Nigerian track of 2025 on Spotify.

It has also been nominated for “Song of the Year” at the 2025 AFRIMA Awards.

It topped the Official Nigeria Top 100, and cracked the Top 5 Afrobeats songs on Billboard US.
