Things to Know as INEC Begins Physical Voter Registration Nationwide

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has today, Monday, August 25, 2025, commenced the in-person phase of its Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise across Nigeria.

This stage follows the online pre-registration which began on August 18, 2025. According to an update shared on INEC’s official X handle, the physical registration will run Mondays to Fridays, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., at INEC state offices and local government area offices nationwide.

INEC outlined those eligible for the exercise as:

• New voters aged 18 and above who have never registered.

• Citizens who need to replace lost or damaged Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).

• Registered voters wishing to transfer their registration to a new location.

• Individuals requiring updates or corrections to their details, such as name or address.

For Nigerians who already completed the online pre-registration, INEC directed them to visit the nearest INEC office in their state or local government area to finalize the process.
