The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has dismissed as fake a viral “wanted” poster bearing the image of Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo, which circulated widely on social media earlier this week.
The poster, which carried the bold inscription “SPECIAL POLICE WANTED” alongside the actress’s photo, claimed she was declared wanted by the Inspector General of Police Monitoring Unit. The publication quickly stirred reactions across online platforms, with many Nigerians questioning its authenticity.
However, in a statement issued via its official Facebook page on Thursday, the Police clarified that the notice did not originate from the Force.
The statement read:
“FAKE NEWS ALERT! This ‘WANTED’ poster of actress Iyabo Ojo did not emanate from the Nigeria Police Force. It is false, misleading, and was never posted on any official NPF platform.”
The NPF further cautioned Nigerians against spreading unverified information and urged the public to rely only on official communication channels for accurate updates.
