Renowned cleric and Senior Pastor of Dunamis International Gospel Centre, Dr. Paul Enenche, has decried the severe hardship faced by Nigerians, criticizing leaders at the top for being indifferent and mocking the suffering masses.

Speaking during a recent sermon, Pastor Enenche expressed deep concern over the widespread poverty and desperation affecting citizens, warning that the situation has reached unbearable levels.

“It’s hard to understand how those in the highest positions of power remain so disconnected. There seems to be no empathy—people are struggling to survive, and yet leaders joke about it,” he said.

The preacher described the current state of the nation as being under a “spell of suffering and tolerance,” where citizens endure intense hardship as though under some invisible influence that compels them to accept it.

He lamented the overwhelming number of people seeking help from churches for essentials like rent, school fees, and food, stating that the burden on religious leaders has never been heavier.

“We are pastoring a people who are genuinely in pain—some line up after every service just to seek assistance. Yet, it seems nothing bothers those at the top. It’s as if the country has been enveloped by a cloak of darkness—an occultic grip that has numbed both the leaders and the people,” he added.

Enenche further criticized the glorification of past leaders who, in his words, inflicted suffering on the people, urging Nigerians to wake up from what he described as “captivity disguised as patience.”

“There’s nowhere in the world where this level of suffering is tolerated without revolt or reform. What we’re seeing is abnormal.”

The cleric’s comments have resonated with many Nigerians who continue to grapple with rising costs of living, unemployment, and general economic hardship.
