Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has once again denied allegations circulating online that he allocated plots of land in Abuja to his children. He dismissed the claims as politically motivated blackmail with no factual basis.
In a statement released on Tuesday by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, the minister described the reports as false and aimed at undermining his reform efforts in the FCT under President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
The latest controversy follows earlier reports that Wike had allegedly allocated over 2,000 hectares of land in Maitama and Asokoro districts to one of his sons through a firm named Joaq Farms and Estates Limited—a claim he had previously debunked.
Addressing the fresh claims involving another company, Jordan Farms and Estates Limited, Olayinka clarified that although the company was legally granted land, it has no links to the minister’s family.
“It is important to state that Jordan Farms and Estates Limited is a legitimate Nigerian company, and none of Wike’s children are listed as directors,” he said. “Assuming a company shares a name with the minister’s son does not make it his property.”
Olayinka emphasized that the ownership details of the firm are publicly accessible via the Corporate Affairs Commission and challenged those spreading the rumours to produce evidence.
He also criticized those allegedly behind the smear campaign, accusing certain political elements of attempting to discredit Wike due to his stance on power rotation in Nigeria.
“Just as the previous week’s allegation failed, this too lacks credibility. Wike remains focused on delivering on his mandate and will not be distracted by politically charged propaganda,” Olayinka added.
He concluded by affirming that while every Nigerian—regardless of status—has the constitutional right to own property if due process is followed, as of now, none of Wike’s children have been allocated land by the FCT Administration.
