A Lagos federal court has ordered the arrest of Mercy Chinwo’s former manager, Ezekiel Onyedikachukwu, over allegations of defrauding the gospel singer of $345,000. The arrest warrant was issued on January 16, 2025, after the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) filed a motion.

According to the EFCC, Mercy Chinwo accused Onyedikachukwu of receiving royalties from her digital platforms and events without informing her, as well as diverting a significant amount of money for his personal use. The EFCC has made several attempts to reach him but were unsuccessful, leading to the arrest order.

If Onyedikachukwu remains at large, the EFCC may issue a public summons to declare him wanted. The case has been adjourned until January 24 for further proceedings.

Mercy Chinwo, who gained fame after winning Nigerian Idol and later signed with Eezee Global Records, parted ways with the label in 2022, sparking rumors of a fallout.
