Asake’s highly anticipated third album Lungu Boy has officially been crowned the biggest album of 2024, according to TurnTable’s annual year-end chart. With a staggering 214.4 million streams (equivalent to 143,000 units), Lungu Boy takes the top spot as the most commercially successful album of the year.

Released on August 8, 2024, Lungu Boy boasts an impressive lineup of guest features, including Nigerian Grammy winner Wizkid, British rap icons Stormzy and Central Cee, and Brazilian star Ludmilla. The album’s diverse collaborations and global appeal signal Asake’s intent to reach a wider international audience while still staying true to his unique Afrobeat roots.

TurnTable Charts revealed that Lungu Boy not only topped the streaming platforms but also received the highest acclaim of any album released in 2024. Asake’s musical evolution is evident as the album delivered chart-topping hits and further solidified his place in the global music scene.

Following Asake in the rankings is Seyi Vibez’s EP NAHAMciaga, which amassed 174.9 million streams (116,600 units), securing the No. 2 spot. The EP’s standout tracks, like the most-streamed song of 2024 on Apple Music Nigeria, “Different Patterns,” and the popular “Cana,” propelled Seyi Vibez to new heights in the industry.

Young Jonn’s debut LP Jiggy Forever took the No. 3 position, accumulating 162.2 million streams (108,000 units). The album’s catchy singles like “Aquafina,” “Bahamas,” and “Big Big Things” (featuring Kizz Daniel and Seyi Vibez) helped cement Young Jonn’s place among 2024’s top artists.

Rema’s bold and experimental sophomore album HEIS secured the fourth spot with 153.8 million streams (102,533 units). The Grammy nominee’s fearless blend of catchy melodies, hard-hitting lyrics, and Afrobeat energy made HEIS a standout project of the year.

Not to be outdone, Asake’s 2023 sophomore album Work of Art rounded out the top five with 148 million streams (98,666 units), showcasing his ongoing dominance in the mainstream with hits like “Lonely At The Top” and “Remember.”

With Lungu Boy topping the 2024 charts, Asake continues to prove his versatility and global reach, making a strong statement about the future of Afrobeat music on the world stage.
