Iyabo Ojo Regrets Supporting the Exhumation of Mohbad’s Body

Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo has opened up about her role in advocating for the exhumation of late singer Mohbad’s body. She revealed that her initial intention was driven by a genuine desire for justice and clarity regarding the circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s tragic death. At the time, she didn’t anticipate that the case would drag on without much progress.

“I wouldn’t have requested that Mohbad be exhumed if I knew his case would turn out this way,” Iyabo said. “I just wanted Mohbad’s body exhumed so they could do the autopsy to find out the cause of his death. I did my best to ensure that everyone was investigated, but when different theories emerged, DNA became more important to them.”

The unexpected passing of Mohbad on September 12, 2023, sent shockwaves across Nigeria and beyond, leaving fans and the public in confusion. His hurried burial within two days, in a small casket, sparked cries for an investigation into his sudden death.

His father, Joseph Aloba, explained that Mohbad was buried quickly due to his youth and the fact that the land where he was interred was the only property he knew his son owned.

After investigations were launched, it was discovered that Mohbad had been administered dangerous injections by a quack nurse, which caused a severe reaction leading to his death. Despite efforts to revive him at Perez Medcare Hospital, he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Though calls for justice have continued to circulate on social media, including from influential figures like Iyabo Ojo, almost two years later, Mohbad has yet to be re-buried. Fans and celebrities alike are still waiting for answers.
