Nigerian superstars Rema, Tems, and Ayra Starr have been recognized for their outstanding projects in 2024, earning spots on RollingStone’s prestigious Top 100 Albums of the Year list. This acknowledgment highlights the global rise of Nigerian music and its influence on the international stage.

Rema’s sophomore album HEIS made the highest entry for any Nigerian album, landing at number 11. The album’s commercial success was recently capped by a Grammy nomination for Best Global Album Performance. RollingStone praised Rema’s unique sound, describing his “Afro-rave” style as a blend of hip-hop, house, R&B, and dancehall, offering a visceral and energetic listening experience.

Tems’ debut album Born In The Wild secured the number 37 spot, following her successful tour and multiple Grammy nominations, including Best R&B Song and Best Global Album. RollingStone described the album as a reflection of Starr’s emotional depth and songwriting ability, blending Afrobeats elements with a sophisticated style that appeals to fans of artists like SZA.

The inclusion of Rema, Tems, and Ayra Starr on the list further cements their status as international stars, highlighting the growing global influence of Nigerian pop music. Last year, albums by Asake, Burna Boy, Mr. Eazi, and Adekunle Gold also made the coveted RollingStone list, reinforcing the international impact of Afrobeats.
