Nigerian Student Achieves a Guinness World Record For The Longest Catwalk.

Olalade Ayelabola, a final year student at the University of Lagos (UNILAG), has set a new Guinness World Record for the longest distance catwalked by a model, completing 130.62 km. Ayelabola, a 500-level Computer Science student, began the attempt on October 1, 2024, Nigeria’s Independence Day, at the indoor sports center of UNILAG.

At first she  aimed  for 120 km, she went beyond the target and added extra 10 km, completing 2,058 laps. After the achievement, Ayelabola took to her Instagram platform expressing her excitement and gratitude , saying, “I did it, everyone! My record is set. There were difficulties, but I stood through them. There was pain, but I refused to give up. Thank you to everyone who helped me.”

Throughout her walk, Ayelabola modeled apparels from Nigerian designers, including pieces from the university’s Theatre Arts Department. although The record is yet to be officially recognized and confirmed by Guinness World record.
