Veteran Nollywood actor, Patrick Doyle has criticised Nigerian Singer Davido, over his outfit to the palace of the Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse III.

Davido, along with other notable figures such as Amaju Pinnick, Phyno, Cubana Chief Priest, and AY Makun, visited the Olu ahead of his performance at the ‘Warri Again’ concert in Delta State last weekend.

The singer posed for photos with the monarch and former NFF President Pinnick, wearing a white t-shirt and brown shorts, which drew criticism from some fans.

Doyle, a native of Delta, took to Facebook to to call Davido’s choice of clothing “inappropriate” for a royal visit.

The post sparked mixed reactions, with some defending Davido’s casual outfit while others felt it showed disrespect to the monarch.

In October 2023, Pinnick filed a N2.3 billion lawsuit against Davido and his music label, Davido Music Worldwide (DMW), in the Effurun High Court, Delta.

The lawsuit accused Davido of breaching a contract by failing to perform at the 19th edition of the ‘Warri Again’ concert on October 6, 2023, despite receiving the agreed payment.

Pinnick claimed Davido was paid $94,600 and that an additional $18,000 was spent chartering a plane for his trip to Warri. In response, Davido filed a counter-lawsuit for N2.3 billion, but both parties eventually settled the matter out of court in March, as approved by the Delta High Court.
