Nigerian highlife singer Chinedu Okoli, widely known as Flavour N’abania, has shared his journey to stardom, including a memorable moment when he was asked to leave the stage during a performance for the popular Nigerian music duo PSquare.

In a podcast interview released on Sunday, Flavour recounted his early music career as a choir conductor and drummer in church. He was later introduced to the owner of a music company, joined a band, became its leader, and eventually decided to pursue a solo career.

Flavour remembered meeting Psquare at City Centre in Enugu while they were promoting their song “Temptation.”

He said, “So the promoters brought Psquare while I was playing, and immediately Psquare came; the manager just said, ‘Hello, off that thing. I switched off, passed the microphone, and went to sit. Then when Paul of Psqaure picked up the microphone and just said, ‘This na temptation’ everywhere scattered.”

This experience made Flavour realize he needed to develop his unique sound and evolve from being just a musician to a true artist, understanding that he needed to start anew.
