Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Vitinha has warned his teammates not to underestimate Liverpool FC ahead of their UEFA Champions League quarter-final first-leg encounter.
Speaking before the clash at the Parc des Princes, the Portuguese midfielder stressed that Liverpool’s pedigree makes them dangerous, regardless of recent struggles.
“Liverpool are Liverpool. Even when they’re not at their best, they remain a top side. We have to be fully prepared because it won’t be easy,” he said.
The fixture revives memories of last season’s meeting between both clubs, where Liverpool claimed victory in Paris before PSG turned things around at Anfield, progressing on penalties and eventually going on to win the competition.
Liverpool head into the game under pressure following inconsistent results, including a heavy FA Cup defeat to Manchester City, and a poor run that has seen them win just once in their last five matches.
Vitinha noted that PSG have learned from previous encounters but insists this tie presents a fresh challenge.
Liverpool will be boosted by the presence of former PSG forward Hugo Ekitike, who has impressed this season. Meanwhile, PSG could be without key players Fabian Ruiz and Bradley Barcola due to injury concerns.
Manager Luis Enrique, however, remains confident in the depth of his squad as the French champions prepare for another high-stakes European night.
