Showmax Originals have officially found a new home on DStv Stream following the announcement that the streaming platform will shut down operations.

According to MultiChoice, a CANAL+ company, the titles that defined Showmax will continue to be available to audiences on DStv Stream starting April 1, 2026. A dedicated Showmax section will also be created inside the app to feature the platform’s most popular originals and fan-favourite titles.

The company said the move is aimed at ensuring award-winning African stories remain widely accessible even after the streaming service officially closes on April 30, 2026.

Showmax content on DStv will be available to customers on packages such as Compact, Compact Plus, and Premium, including both satellite subscribers and streaming-only users through the DStv Stream app. Existing Showmax customers will also be migrated to DStv Stream and will be able to continue streaming until May 31, 2026, at no extra cost.

The platform helped drive the growth of African streaming content with popular titles like WURA, Flawsome, Cheta M, and The Real Housewives of Lagos, all of which will remain available through the new dedicated section.

MultiChoice Nigeria CEO Kemi Omotosho said the move reflects the company’s long-term commitment to streaming and African storytelling. 📺
