Nigerian singer Lil Kesh has strongly reacted to a viral video showing students bullying a fellow student at Igbinedion Education Centre, describing the footage as disturbing and emotionally triggering.
The video, which circulated widely on social media, showed two male students repeatedly beating and kicking another student who had fallen to the ground while several other students watched.
In the clip, one of the attackers was seen dragging the victim by his school uniform and stomping on his chest as the boy cried in pain. A third student who recorded the incident could also be heard pleading with the attackers to stop.
Reacting to the footage, Lil Kesh said the incident brought back painful memories from his childhood when he was bullied.
“This is honestly really triggering for me to watch because I got bullied when I was younger and seeing these kids gang up on other kids makes me mad,” he wrote.
The singer added that many children who bully others often struggle with empathy and personal insecurities.
“What’s sad is it’s always the kids with the least empathy, low self-esteem and insecurities picking on the ones who actually have a heart,” he said.
He also urged parents to instill values of empathy and kindness in their children, stressing that such behaviour often reflects deeper issues in upbringing.
Following the backlash online, the Edo State Police Command confirmed that the students involved in the bullying incident had been expelled by the school’s management.
Police spokesperson Eno Ikioyedem said the state Commissioner of Police, Monday Agbonika, had directed the Divisional Police Officer in the area to conduct a full investigation.
The police also reiterated their condemnation of bullying, violence, and intimidation among students, warning that anyone found responsible would face legal consequences.
