Nigerian singer Ayra Starr has revealed that one of her past relationships inspired her song Where Do We Go, describing the romance as a secret and emotionally complicated situationship.
Speaking during an appearance on Way Up with Angela Yee, the “Rush” crooner said the relationship was known only to her and the person involved.
According to the 23-year-old singer, her friends repeatedly advised her to end the relationship, but she found it difficult to walk away because of the emotional bond and friendship she shared with her partner.
“It was a secret, unhealthy situationship, no one knew except us. My friends kept telling me to end it, but I loved him and kept going back because we had a real friendship,” she said.
Ayra Starr explained that although the relationship was deeply personal, it was not progressing in the direction she had hoped, which left her questioning the future of the connection.
She said this uncertainty eventually inspired her to write “Where Do We Go.”
“It wasn’t going anywhere, so I started asking myself: where do we go from here? I wanted it private, but at the same time, I wanted him to fight for me,” she added.
Meanwhile, the singer has recently been the subject of rumours linking her to fellow Nigerian artist Rema, sparking speculation among fans about a possible secret romance.
However, neither of the artists has confirmed the reports, leaving fans to continue speculating about their relationship.
