₦1bn Suit Filed Against Davido as Custody Dispute with Sophia Momodu Deepens

Fresh drama has emerged in the ongoing child custody battle between Afrobeats star Davido and Sophia Momodu, as her lawyer, Ebelechukwu Egeonu Enedah, has filed a ₦1 billion lawsuit against the singer.

The legal action, instituted through Punuka Attorneys & Solicitors, follows a tense court session on February 12, 2026. According to court documents, Davido allegedly made verbal remarks directed at Enedah during proceedings and later posted comments on social media describing her as the “worst lawyer ever.”

The law firm is demanding a public apology, a formal retraction of the statements, and ₦1 billion in damages for alleged defamation. Davido has reportedly been given a seven-day ultimatum to comply with the demands.

Ongoing Custody Battle

Davido and Sophia Momodu have been locked in a custody dispute over their daughter, Imade, since 2022. In April 2024, the singer approached the Lagos State High Court seeking joint custody, claiming he had been denied access to the child.

Sophia, however, countered that Davido had not seen their daughter since July 2022 and alleged that he failed to meet certain financial responsibilities, including school fees and housing expenses.

The case later took another turn when Davido withdrew the suit, citing dissatisfaction over remarks allegedly made in court referencing his late son, Ifeanyi.

With the new lawsuit now in play, the legal standoff appears far from over, as both sides continue to press their claims in what has become one of the most talked-about celebrity custody disputes in recent times.
