Lionel Messi inspired a dramatic turnaround as Inter Miami CF recovered from a two-goal deficit to defeat Orlando City SC 4–2 in a thrilling MLS encounter.
The defending champions struggled in the first half, falling 2–0 behind and appearing unable to cope with Orlando’s attacking pressure. After the break, however, Miami emerged with renewed intensity, spearheaded by Messi and midfielder Telasco Segovia.
Messi ignited the comeback with a long-range strike to reduce the deficit, while Segovia played a pivotal role in the revival, helping the hosts level the score at 2–2. With five minutes remaining, Segovia completed the turnaround by scoring the go-ahead goal.
Orlando’s problems deepened shortly after when midfielder Colin Guske was sent off, leaving the visitors with 10 men. Messi capitalised on the advantage, sealing the victory with a decisive free-kick to complete Miami’s four-goal second-half surge.
Despite the impressive comeback, defensive concerns remain for Miami after conceding twice in the opening period. Goalkeeper Dayne St. Clair delivered an uneven performance, and new signing Germán Berterame is still adapting to the team’s attacking system.
While the display exposed vulnerabilities, Miami’s explosive attacking quality once again proved decisive, underlining why they remain one of the most dangerous sides in MLS when their rhythm clicks.
