Nigerian rapper and activist, Falz, has taken a swipe at the country’s political leadership and religious institutions over worsening insecurity, weak accountability, and what he described as a repetitive cycle of failed governance.
Speaking in a recent commentary, Falz expressed frustration over frequent violent attacks across Nigeria, noting that mass killings are often followed by routine official statements without any visible arrests or prosecutions. He questioned the sincerity and effectiveness of government responses, accusing authorities of failing to protect citizens or deliver justice to victims.
The rapper also criticised religious leaders, arguing that many focus heavily on spiritual solutions while allowing politicians to use church platforms for political campaigns. According to him, this practice encourages voters to continue supporting leaders who have failed to address core national problems.
Falz further raised concerns about the National Assembly’s refusal to amend the Electoral Act to allow real-time transmission of election results. He suggested that the resistance to the amendment is deliberate and aimed at preserving loopholes that enable electoral manipulation.
Urging Nigerians to reflect deeply, Falz warned that meaningful change would remain impossible without accountability, civic awareness, and informed voting. He stressed that relying solely on prayers while ignoring systemic failures would only keep the country trapped in the same cycle of poor leadership and insecurity.
