Funke Akindele has further cemented her reputation as one of Nollywood’s most bankable stars, posting an extraordinary run at the Nigerian box office over the last five years.
Industry box office records show that the actress, filmmaker, and producer has generated more than ₦6 billion within this period, driven by a streak of blockbuster films that consistently drew massive local audiences.
Her remarkable run took off in 2020 with Omo Ghetto: The Saga, which recorded over ₦636 million in ticket sales nationwide and set the pace for what would become an unprecedented commercial streak.
Since then, Akindele’s releases have continued to raise the bar. Battle on Buka Street (2022) pulled in about ₦668 million, while A Tribe Called Judah (2023) shattered expectations by crossing the ₦1 billion mark, eventually grossing an estimated ₦1.4 billion.
In 2024, she outdid herself with Everybody Loves Jenifa, which earned close to ₦1.88 billion, securing its place as the highest-grossing Nollywood film in history.
Her most recent film, Behind the Scenes (2025), has also enjoyed huge commercial success, raking in over ₦1.7 billion to finish as the highest-grossing local movie of the year.
With several billion-naira titles under her belt, Funke Akindele now occupies three of the top four spots on Nigeria’s all-time highest-grossing films list, underscoring her dominance as Nollywood’s undisputed box office powerhouse.
