Grammy-nominated Nigerian superstar Wizkid has made history as the first African artist to surpass 10 billion streams on Spotify, cementing his status as one of the continent’s most influential global acts.

The milestone gives strong evidence of his worldwide appeal, driven by chart-topping hits such as “One Dance” with Drake, which has amassed nearly 4 billion streams, and “Essence” featuring Tems, which has recorded over 334 million streams on the platform.

As of January 2026, Wizkid leads the list of Africa’s most-streamed artists on Spotify. He is followed closely by Burna Boy, who has accumulated more than 9.5 billion streams.

Rema ranks third with 5.6 billion streams, while Tems has surpassed 4.4 billion. South African sensation Tyla follows with 3.7 billion streams, and Nigerian singer Ayra Starr rounds out the list with 3.3 billion streams.
