The quarter-final stage of the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025 is now fully set after Algeria booked the final available spot with a hard-fought win over DR Congo on Tuesday night.
With that result, all eight teams for the last-eight stage of Africa’s biggest football tournament are confirmed, setting up a thrilling weekend of continental clashes.
Algeria sealed their place in dramatic fashion, edging DR Congo 1–0 after extra time in Rabat. Substitute Anis Boulbina struck late in the 119th minute to decide the contest and send the Desert Foxes through.
Their reward is a heavyweight quarter-final showdown against Nigeria, who had earlier powered into the last eight with a dominant 4–0 victory over Mozambique. Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen was the star of the night, scoring twice in a commanding performance.
Before Algeria’s qualification, several heavyweights had already secured their spots. Senegal, Mali, Morocco, Cameroon and Egypt all progressed from the Round of 16, setting the stage for a high-quality quarter-final round.
Defending champions Côte d’Ivoire were the last team to join the party, cruising to a 3–0 win over Burkina Faso in Marrakesh. Goals from Amad Diallo, Yan Diomandé and Bamba Touré sealed a convincing victory for the Elephants.
The Ivorians now face Egypt in what promises to be one of the standout ties of the round, as they continue their quest to defend their AFCON crown.
