Chelsea have confirmed that Under-21 head coach Calum McFarlane will be in charge of the senior team for their Premier League clash against Fulham.
McFarlane, who has been in charge of the club’s U-21 side since the summer, also oversaw Chelsea’s 1–1 draw with Manchester City at the weekend following the exit of Enzo Maresca.
Speaking to reporters at Cobham on Monday, shortly after Liam Rosenior was officially announced as Chelsea’s new head coach, McFarlane shed light on the ongoing transition.
According to him, he had a brief conversation with Rosenior, who is eager to begin his new role. McFarlane revealed that Rosenior is expected at Cobham later in the day and that further discussions will take place.
He confirmed that he has been asked to lead the team against Fulham, stressing his focus on delivering a positive result before handing over fully to the new manager.
Chelsea’s trip to Fulham will mark McFarlane’s second game in temporary charge, with Rosenior set to officially take over shortly after as he begins his work with the squad.
