Super Eagles star and Galatasaray forward, Victor Osimhen, has been honoured as GQ Turkey’s Sportsman of the Year for 2025.
The 26-year-old received the prestigious award on Wednesday night at a glamorous black-tie ceremony in Istanbul, organised annually by GQ Magazine to celebrate outstanding figures in sports, entertainment, and culture.
Osimhen earned the recognition following a brilliant debut campaign with Galatasaray, where he delivered a staggering 37 goals and 7 assists in 41 matches, playing a crucial role in the club’s league triumph. His impact was so significant that Galatasaray broke the Turkish transfer record, paying €75 million to seal his permanent move from Napoli.
The Nigerian striker has kept up the momentum this season as well, scoring 11 goals in 14 appearances across all competitions.
The night also highlighted other notable achievers:
Actor Aras Aydın won International Achiever of the Year
Actress Sinem Ünsal was named Woman of the Year
British-Turkish singer Edis received Music Person of the Year
Chef Bahtiyar Büyükduman took home Chef of the Year
In total, 12 awards were presented across different categories.
In his acceptance speech, Osimhen expressed heartfelt appreciation to the organisers, his club, and the fans.
“A big thank you to GQ. I can’t forget my Galatasaray family. This means so much to my family and me. I appreciate everyone who has supported me up to this hour. I will continue to do my best for my family, for Galatasaray, and for the fans all over the world.”
