Ayra Starr Confirms Move to New York, Shares What Inspired the Relocation

Nigerian pop star Oyinkansola Aderibigbe, popularly known as Ayra Starr, has revealed that she now lives in New York City.

The 23-year-old singer confirmed the news during an interview on Hot 93.7FM’s Buck N Regg Show, where she opened up about settling into her new environment and how the move is influencing her artistic journey.

“I live in New York now. I moved officially less than two months ago, although I’ve always spent a lot of time here,” she said.

Ayra explained that she initially struggled with the idea of relocating, until a moment on stage made everything clear. That experience, she said, convinced her that New York was where she needed to be at this stage of her career.

According to her, the city feels surprisingly familiar.
“New York reminds me so much of Lagos. There are so many Nigerians and a strong African community here. It still feels like home,” she added.

She described the move as both a personal decision and a strategic step toward expanding her global reach. The singer hinted that her new base has already created opportunities for international collaborations, though she chose not to reveal names yet.

Despite her relocation, Ayra Starr reassured fans that Nigeria remains home and that she will continue to return frequently for work and creative projects.
