Rapper and activist Falz has questioned the federal government’s transparency following President Bola Tinubu’s announcement that 38 people abducted in Kwara State have been freed.
The president had earlier revealed that the victims of the Kwara church attack, along with about 50 students kidnapped in Niger State, had regained their freedom. However, the details surrounding the rescue were not disclosed, prompting public concern.
Falz, reacting in a video shared online, said the government failed to explain how the hostages were secured and whether any suspects had been arrested. According to him, the absence of information about possible ransom payments or the fate of the kidnappers raises serious questions about accountability and the country’s security strategy.
He criticised the pattern of vague government statements and urged Nigerians to take collective action. Falz encouraged citizens to contact their representatives in the National Assembly and demand a public hearing—one that should be televised and accessible to everyone.
The musician also expressed frustration over the billions allocated to security every year, wondering why the military still appears poorly equipped and vulnerable to ambushes.
Calling the situation a “national emergency,” he insisted that Nigerians must apply pressure consistently and abandon the habit of relying solely on social media outrage.
In his words:
“The president says all 38 victims from the Kwara church attack are back home, and 50 of the students kidnapped in Niger have also returned. Yet, we heard nothing about arrests, ransom, or prosecutions. This is not enough.
We need to bombard our senators and reps with messages demanding a public hearing—streamed live—so we can finally get answers about our security. This cannot continue.”
