Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has called for an immediate boost to security presence in Ekiti Local Government Area  especially around the Eruku axis  following another wave of violent attacks on Tuesday.

In a statement issued on Wednesday by his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, the governor requested the urgent deployment of additional security personnel to reinforce the operatives already on ground.

“The Governor has sought immediate deployment of more security operatives to support the existing security architecture in the area. He requested that this new measure be activated without delay,” the statement read.

AbdulRazaq condemned what he described as a “heartless and unacceptable attack,” expressing sympathy to the entire Eruku community, particularly families and members of the Christ Apostolic Church who were directly affected.

He assured residents that his administration remains committed to supporting security agencies in their efforts to protect lives and property across the state.
The governor also appreciated President Bola Tinubu for recently approving the deployment of 900 additional troops to Kwara, saying the reinforcement will significantly enhance security operations.

According to earlier reports, suspected bandits launched two coordinated evening attacks in the border community on Tuesday.

At the Christ Apostolic Church in Eruku, gunmen stormed a special service and opened fire, killing three worshippers instantly before abducting the pastor and several congregants. The exact number of kidnapped victims is yet to be confirmed.
Residents say the attackers fled through bush paths linking the area to neighbouring Kogi State.

On the same evening, another group of armed men reportedly ambushed travellers and locals along the Ilorin–Kabba Road, forcing many to run into nearby bushes for safety.
