The vibrant nightlife of Lagos was disrupted early Sunday morning after operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) conducted a surprise raid at Proxy Nightclub in Victoria Island, leading to the arrest of popular socialite Pretty Mike, ex–reality TV star Tuoyo Ideh, and several other patrons.
According to a statement issued by NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi, the operation was carried out following credible intelligence reports about illicit activities allegedly taking place within the nightclub.
The raid, which began around 3 a.m., resulted in the arrest of over 100 individuals, including the club’s owner, Mike Eze Nwalie Nwogu, widely known as Pretty Mike. NDLEA officials reportedly arrived at the venue earlier around 11 p.m. on Saturday to monitor the situation before making their move.
During the operation, law enforcement agents reportedly discovered various illegal substances on some guests and within the club’s storage area. All apprehended persons were taken into custody for further interrogation, with the agency confirming that those found culpable will face legal action.
The incident has stirred widespread reactions on social media, as many Nigerians expressed disbelief over the alleged involvement of the high-profile figures.
The NDLEA reaffirmed its determination to rid entertainment centers in Lagos of drug-related activities and ensure strict compliance with the law as investigations into the case continue.
