A recent encounter between popular streamer Peller and a Nigerian soldier has sparked mixed reactions online after the entertainer was spotted wearing a camouflage jacket, a practice prohibited for civilians in Nigeria.

In a circulating video, Peller—who recently returned from the United Kingdom—was seen conversing with a soldier while dressed in the jacket.
Rather than reprimanding him, the soldier smiled, exchanged greetings, and shook hands with the influencer.

Camouflage Controversy

In Nigeria, it is illegal for civilians to wear military camouflage, a rule often strictly enforced by security personnel.
Several social media clips in the past have shown soldiers punishing individuals caught in such attire.

However, Peller told the soldier that wearing camouflage was common abroad and insisted there was “nothing unusual” about it.

Peller Gifts Cash to Onlookers

After the brief encounter, Peller brought out his wallet filled with British pounds and shared money with onlookers who had gathered around—including the soldier.

Online Reactions

The video quickly went viral, drawing a wave of mixed opinions from Nigerians, many of whom accused the military of double standards in enforcing the law.

“Celeb wear camo — photo session. Poor man wear camo — detention.”

@DonMike_X added:

“Soldiers flex on the weak but freeze in front of the rich. Classic Nigerian problem.”

@tobathenurse commented:

“Camo wey people dey wear anyhow abroad. Na only Nigeria things dey always different.”

@Chisam32423798 remarked:

“Indeed, rules are for the masses.”

While some praised the soldier’s composure, others described the incident as proof of preferential treatment for celebrities, reigniting debate over fairness in law enforcement.
