Tinubu Attends Coronation of New Olubadan in Ibadan

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Friday departed Abuja for Ibadan, Oyo State, to attend the coronation of the new Olubadan, Rashidi Ladoja.

The presidential jet took off from the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, with Tinubu expected to join top dignitaries and traditional leaders at Mapo Hall for the historic installation ceremony.

The President’s presence highlights the national significance of the Olubadan stool, regarded as one of the most respected traditional institutions in Yoruba land.

Excitement has filled the ancient city as residents welcome the enthronement of Ladoja. Mapo Hall—an iconic landmark in Ibadan’s cultural and political history—serves as the venue for the royal occasion.

Ladoja Becomes 44th Olubadan

At 81 years old, Rashidi Ladoja, a respected businessman, politician, and former governor of Oyo State, has officially ascended the throne as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland.

His journey to the crown reflects over three decades of steady progression through Ibadan’s unique chieftaincy hierarchy, following the passing of Oba Owolabi Olakulehin on July 7.

Ladoja’s coronation has been described as a moment of pride not only for Ibadanland but also for the Yoruba people at large.
