Nigeria’s Wilfred Ndidi has returned from injury and has been named in the Besiktas squad for their rescheduled Turkish Super Lig opener against Kayserispor, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
The midfielder, who picked up a knock during Nigeria’s World Cup qualifier against South Africa, had been sidelined for league matches against Basaksehir and Goztepe, raising concerns of a prolonged absence.
Besiktas eased those fears at the weekend, confirming that the summer signing had resumed full training. The 28-year-old rejoined team sessions just a day after missing their 3-0 defeat to Goztepe.
Head coach Sergen Yalçın, who returned to the club in August following Ole Gunnar Solskjær’s dismissal, included Ndidi in his travelling squad for Wednesday’s fixture. The list also features senior names such as Gabriel Paulista, Rafa Silva, and Tammy Abraham, alongside academy graduates Tuna Baran Demir, Asım Efe Işık, and Devrim Şahin, who have earned first-time call-ups.
Ndidi has quickly established himself in midfield since arriving from Leicester City, already making four appearances—including his debut in the 2-1 win over Eyüpspor and both legs of the Europa Conference League qualifiers against Lausanne Sport.
Besiktas, currently 11th with six points from four games, will be hoping his return bolsters their midfield as they attempt to close the gap on leaders Galatasaray, who sit 12 points ahead with two games more played.
